A league-management platform, built from scratch

How PulseCreate replaced spreadsheets and WhatsApp messages with a live, mobile-first platform that runs an entire darts season — maintained by volunteers with no technical know-how.

The client

The Southwater Summer Darts League is a community darts league running each summer in Southwater, West Sussex. Run by a volunteer committee, the league coordinates fixtures, tracks standings and player statistics, and manages multiple venues across the area.

The challenge

For years, the league ran on spreadsheets, WhatsApp messages and paper. Standings were updated by hand and were often out of date by the time players saw them. Match results took days to filter through. There was no central place for players to check fixtures, stats or the league table — and no easy way for the committee to manage the season without hours of manual admin.

The committee needed a platform that would:

  • Show live standings and results that updated automatically as matches were entered
  • Track player statistics — averages, games played, wins
  • Manage venues and fixtures in one place
  • Be maintainable by non-technical volunteers — no code, no developer on call
  • Work beautifully on a phone, because most players check it in the pub after a match

They didn’t need a marketing website. They needed a working application.

What we built

PulseCreate designed and built a complete league-management platform from the ground up — a full-stack web application, not a WordPress site or a template.

The platform includes:

  • Live standings that recalculate instantly when a match result is entered — no manual updates, no spreadsheets
  • Match results and fixtures with an intuitive admin area where committee members can log scores in under a minute
  • Player statistics — games played, wins, averages and performance over the season
  • Venue management — every venue, address and map link in one place
  • Committee-friendly admin — designed for volunteers with zero technical knowledge. If you can fill in a form, you can run the league.
Next.js 16React 19TypeScriptTailwind v4PrismaSQLite

Built on modern, reliable tech — Next.js 16 for speed and server-side rendering, React 19 for an interactive, app-like interface, TypeScript for type-safe maintainable code, Tailwind v4 for responsive mobile-first design, and Prisma + SQLite for a lightweight, fast database.

The result is a platform that loads instantly, works perfectly on a phone, and keeps the entire league in sync — from the committee entering results to players checking the table on a Sunday morning.

The outcome

The platform is live and in use today. The committee manages the entire season through the admin area. Players get real-time standings, fixtures and stats without chasing anyone. What used to take hours of manual work per week now takes minutes.

Why this matters for your business

This isn’t a mockup or a brochure site. It’s a real, working application that handles real data, real users and a real season — built end-to-end by one developer.

If your business needs more than a standard website — an online booking system, a customer portal, a quoting tool, a real-time dashboard — this is the kind of work PulseCreate does. The same engineering that runs a live sports league can run your business’s custom tool.

Most web designers can put together a nice-looking page. Not many can design, build and ship a full-stack application that real people rely on every week.
